PGA Championship Vijay SinghVijay Singh has been one of the worlds top golfers for many years and he underlined his class whenwinning the WGC Invitational last week by one stroke from Lee Westwood and Stuart Appleby. He is a three time Major Championship winner, two of these wins came at the PGA Championship which he won in 1998 and again in 2004, these victories earned him a permanent place in PGA Championship history. The other came in the US Masters in 2000. He was also runner up in the British Open in 2003 which is included in his total of 22 Top Ten finishes in the ‘Majors’. Apart from his win last week, the last two years have been a little barren by his standards, but he has proven that he is not finished yet and still has a ‘Major’ in him. He has a total of 55 Professional wins. He was the leading PGA Tour money winner in both 2003 and 2004 and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2006.

World Ranking

Vijay holds the distinction of being the first man to topple Tiger Woods at the top of the world rankings, which he did so in 2004. In fact the two exchanged the spot for a few months. He is currently ranked 4th.

Playing Style

Vijay is a right hander who is one of the longer hitters in the game. He is good around the greens but like most struggles on the putting surfaces from time. He is one of those players who when hot is very hot. He is known for his dedication to practice and can often be seen at Tournaments long after every one else has gone home. Although right handed, Vijay is reputed to be able to play off a handicap of 6, left handed.
