Sergio Garcia

PGA Championship Sergio GarciaTop Spaniard, Sergio Garcia, remains the best golfer in the world today still yet to win Major, despite thirteen top ten finishes. Surely his time will come soon. He and Miguel Jimenez are the two top Spanish Players in the world rankings and both are in good form this season. Sergio has had three top ten finishes in the PGA, his best being his runner up spot to Tiger Woods in the highly memorable 1999 tournament. He was also runner up in 2007 at the British Open where he lost in a play off to Padraig Harrington. Unfortunately Sergio was disqualified at this event in 2007 but had been third in 2006. He has won 19 professional tournaments thus far, including the '5th major', the Players Championship, which he won in 2008.

World Ranking

He is currently ranked 5th in the world.

Playing Style

Sergio has had many comments made about his swing, which is far from conventional, yet he hits the ball predigious distances off the tee and as he says "he would rather have a swing that works for him than a perfect swing that doesn't". He has a superb short game and, on his day is red hot on the putting surface.
