Rory Sabbatini

PGA Championship Rory SabbatiniRory Sabbatini had no fewer than 13 top ten tour finishes in 2007, including victory in the Crown Plaza Invitational, which he won after a play off with Jim Furyk and Bernhard Langer. It was a fantastic year and the South African was being tipped as a future Major winner. His great season also hoisted him up into 8th place in the World rankings. This year started as 2007 had ended, he came 2nd in the Hawaiian Open, behind KJ Choi and then followed that up with a tied third place in the Buick Invitational.

However the rest of 2008 went poorly, his best finish being 27th in the Players Championship. He missed the cut at the US Masters and was tied 58th in the US Open. He has performed poorly too at the PGA Championship, missing five of the last eight cuts, he has a best finish of T68th. 2009 has not proved muh better although he did win the Byron Nelson in May. His best Major performance to date was his T2nd in the US Masters in 2007 behind Zak Johnson.

World Ranking

Rory is currently ranked 38th in the world, but has had a high ranking of 8th.

Playing Style

Rory has struggled off the tee this year and has a very solid game with no real weakness's. His performances on all types of course's bears this out. He hits the ball long and usually accurately. He is one of the best iron players on tour and an excellent putter. If he could improve anywhere it would be his short game, where some have said that he lacks creativity..
