Rocco Mediate

Achievements

Rocco came bouncing back from a long run of mediocrity to defy the odds and finish 2nd after a play-off behind Tiger Woods in this year's US Open. It was a remarkable performance and Rocco can consider himself incredibly unlucky not to have won. Tiger's fantastic long putt on the 18th in the fourth round got him level and thus a play-off, which Tiger won in a closely fought 18 holes. Prior to that huge effort, Rocco had only one other top ten finish on the PGA tour this year and that was 6th spot in the Memorial a week before the US Open. He has had three other top ten Major tournament finishes, he was T6th at the US Open in 2005 and was also 4th in the same event in 2001. He also managed a top ten at the PGA Championship, when 6th in 2002. He has had a total of 9 professional tournament wins.

Playing Style

Rocco is not the longest or straightest hitter off the tee, but makes up for distance with an excellent approach game combined with one of the best putting strokes in the game.
