Phil Mickelson - PGA Championship
Phil Mickelson is the number two ranked player in the world. He has won a total of three Major Championships, including the PGA Championship in 2005; he also won the US Masters in 2004 and again in 2006, beating Ernie Els by a single shot. Phil has also been a Major Championship runner-up on no fewer than five occasions including here at the PGA in 2001. In total Phil has one of the very best records in the world and has a total of 34 career wins. His form in Majors this year has been mixed, he finished 5th in the US Masters and was tied 18th in the US Open, but had suffered from a quadruple bogey sustained in the third round that effectively ended his chances. He has two tournament victories so far in 2008, he won the Northern Trust Open in February, from Jeff Quinney, Luke Donald and Padraig Harrington. He followed that up with victory in the Crown Plaza Invitational in May. He was also runner-up FBR Open, also in February. He has missed the cut only once this year.

Playing Style
Phil is known as ‘Lefty’ as he is one of the few top left handed players in the world. His short game is the envy of many, some believing that its the best in the world. However, it has often been pointed out that his short game is a means of salvation, rather then a means of creation and that he would do well to occasionally change his approach to these type’s of shots. He is also one of the top putters on tour being one of those players that can score birdie after birdie when in the mood. He does have a tendency to go for broke in certain situations and this approach is probably the reason why he can be infuriatingly inconsistent.
