Miguel Jiminez
Miguel Angel Jiminez is an unmistakeable character on the golfing circuits of the world, with his reddish pony tail, the Spaniard cuts a unique figure. Do not let his unorthodox looks put you off however, he is playing fantastically well at present and having one of his better seasons. He has already bagged two tournament wins this year, the Hong Kong Open, which he won from KJ Choi and Robert Karlsson and the BMW PGA after a play off with Oliver Wilson. Luke Donald and Robert Karlsson were tied third. Add these wins to his other sixteen professional victories and you have a player that can win here at the PGA Championship. As far as this event is concerned, Miguel has not had the best of luck, his best finish being T10th in 1999, behind Tiger Woods. He has had six further top ten finishes in Majors, his best being third place at the 2001 British open, that time behind David Duval. Two of these top ten finishes were this year, when he was T8th in the US Masters, behind Trevor Immelman and then T6th in the US Open behind Tiger Woods once more. His recent form has been overall good and although missing the cut at the British Open, Miguel finished in a tie for third at the Scottish open and was a very creditable T10th in last weeks WGC Invitational.
World Ranking
He is currently ranked 19th in the world..
Playing Style
Miguel has an all round game, but he is particularly accurate with his approach play off the fairway. His putting this year has been excellent when it matters, it seems to get better the nearer he comes to winning an event.
