Lee Westwood

PGA Championship Lee WestwoodEnglishman, Lee Westwood, comes to the PGA Championship in great form this year and warmed up for the tournament with an excellent runner up spot to Vijay Singh in last weeks WGC Invitational. He will be looking to perform to the same high standard as he achieved there and at the US Open in June, where he finished 3rd behind Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate, having led with a couple of holes to go. This is Lee's best performance in a Major tournament, beating his previous best of 4th to Ernie Els in the 2004 British open. In total he has had six top ten finishes in Major Championships, three at the US Open, two at the British Open and one at the US Masters; he has yet to have a similar success in the PGA Championship. His best finish to date was 15th back in 2000; he was 32nd last year and 29th in 2006. He has a career total of 29 professional wins and is one of the few golfers in the world who has won on every tour. Since 2007, Lee has won two tournaments and has had 18 top ten finishes. Lee played very well in the Ryder Cup on this course in 2004, securing 4.5 points for the European teram in their emphatic victory.

World Ranking

He is currently ranked 12th in the world.

Playing Style

Lee is one of the biggest hitters off the tee in the world and has great accuracy. His weakness was clearly his short game, but he has been working with former professional, Mark Roe and the improvement has been instant; hence his excellent year so far in 2008.
