Jim Furyk

PGA Championship Jim FurykJim Furyk became a Major Golf Champion when winning the US Open in 2003, an event where he has also been joint runner up twice in both 2006, behind Geoff Ogilvy and then in 2007, behind Argentinian, Angel Cabrera. In total he has enjoyed 16 top ten finishes at Major’s, including four at this event the PGA Championship and is without doubt one of the great players on tour. He has had a total of 22 Professional wins and won the Vardon trophy in 2006. In 2008 he had six top ten finishes on tour, his best being 2nd place at the WGC CA Championship, behind Australian, Geoff Ogilvy. He also challenged for the British Open at Royal Birkdale 2008 but ended up in an excellent tied 5th positon.

World Ranking

Jim is currently ranked 10th in the world and has ranked in the top ten for 250 weeks between 1999 and 2008. His career high was 2nd in September 2006.

Playing Style

Although he has a swing described thus “Like an octopus falling out of a tree”, Jim’s unorthodox style has put him in good stead and he is one of the great putters on the tour.
