PGA Championship Jim FurykJim Furyk became a Major Golf Champion when winning the US Open in 2003, an event where he has also been joint runner up twice in both 2006, behind Geoff Ogilvy and then in 2007, behind Argentinian, Angel Cabrera. In total he has enjoyed 18 top ten finishes at Major’s, including four at this event the PGA Championship and is without doubt one of the better and more experienced players on the tour.

He also challenged for the British Open at Royal Birkdale 2008 but ended up in an excellent tied 5th positon. While he has drifted down the rankings slightly over the past couple of years he is still more than capable of winning any tournament, he showed that in 2010 when he won three times on tour including the Tour Championship.

World Ranking

Jim is currently ranked 10th in the world and has ranked in the top ten for 250 weeks between 1999 and 2008. His career high was 2nd in September 2006.

Playing Style

Although he has a swing described thus “Like an octopus falling out of a tree”, Jim’s unorthodox style has put him in good stead and he is one of the great putters on the tour.
