Darren Clarke

Achievements

Darren Clarke who has had a very lean period for the past 4/5 years, came back in 2008 for his first tournament win since 2005 when taking the BMW Asian Open but his form since has been very much up and down. However he returned to the highest level of golf at the WGC Bridgestone and came home in a magnificent T6th position and looked to be really enjoying his golf. A few years ago, Darren was ranked in the top ten players in the world, and has had six top ten Major Tournament finishes, including a 9th place at the PGA Championship in 2000.

His best performance in a Major to date was his 2nd place in 1997 at the British Open, behind Justin Leonard. He was also third in that event in 2001. He has won a total of seventeen Professional events plus a further two WGC events, including the 2000 Accentura Matchplay where he beat Tiger Woods in the final. He has finished runner up three times in the European money winners list.

World Ranking

He is currently ranked 109th in the world.

Playing Style

Darren is one of the longer hitters in the game and has all the shots needed to win tournaments. He is guilty however of inconsistency and often finds himself having to rely on his short game to bail him out. He is an absolute joy to watch when in full flow and has produced many memorable moments on the putting surface. He is an agressive player and has tremendous determination.
