PGA Championship 2008 Venue Oakland Hills

PGA Championship Oakland Hills Golf CourseThe 2008 PGA Championship will be contested on the South Course at Oakland Hills Country Club, situated in the Bloomfield Township of Michigan. The course known affectionately as ‘The Monster’ is a par 70, stretching over 7445 yards. It is one of the highest ranked course’s in America, if not the world. It was designed by Donald Ross and opened for play in 1918, since then it has played host to two PGA Championships (1972 & 1979) and six US Opens, the most recent being in 1996. It also hosted the Ryder Cup in 2004.

The greens on the South Course are very difficult, there are some holes where players can be aggressive, but when the greens are playing quick it will be essential to keep the ball below the hole. This might mean plenty of fun for the spectators but if the course is playing tough it wil mean much frustration for players.
